Productive day..?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Crazy Day!

My hubby's day started out by going to our local county fair and buying 'more' chickens! 14 to be exact! We will be eating lots of eggs when all the chickens start laying together! Egg Sandwich, Egg Salad, Fried Eggs, Scramble Eggs, Deviled Eggs, Eggs on salads, Eggs on Steak, Eggs on Chicken....Oh, getting away from me with all these chickens I am seeing! LOL

I think we have a total of around 25-28 chickens now!

I can tell you, these chickens lay the best eggs, brown ones and they do not even compare to store bought eggs!

Fire Pit to start burning at first cool night (hint, this is the small one, you should see our larger one!)

Weeding my flowering gardens

Mowed my yard

Then went to the front pasture to mow

Wood we cut, split and hauled....! (in 3 loads total)

As if every Saturday starts out the same! Getting out of bed, knowing that you have to clean house! I can't hardly stand going a week without cleaning! I want to come home daily to a clean, nice, neat home and cuddle up on the couch and watch T.V. to unwind!

Except this Saturday had more in store that I anticipated! I can't say why on cool mornings that it does something to the 'cleaning' in a woman.......I got up to clean my house, except something just couldn't stop! I continued to clean and wash, vacuum, sanitize (for all the flu that is going around at school), disinfect, I took all the comforters and bed linen off, with the quilts, I washed stuff that I don't even use! Well by noon my total house was clean!

I then went outside and mowed my lawn, I couldn't stop there! I bowed my front pasture! Yikes, what has gotten into me? I pulled weeds in the flower gardens, I made a fire pit and filled it full of wood and stuff we needed to burn (always wanted a fire pit for the cold nights that I could sit outside)! Then Hubby came home from bailing and hauling hay and he said, "lets go cut some more fire wood!" This is why we built out rock wall and our wood stove is coming in for the winter! So as you see in the picture, we have cut and hauled lots of firewood!

Today, I am tired and he wanted to cut more fire wood! YIKESSSSSSSS What has got into us? LOL

Contagious Laughs!

Laughing is contagious.........Especially when that person (people) have that 'funny' laugh! I have a student who 'cracks' me up when she laughs! I have her 2x's a day and today, she was in a fun mood! We were working on geometry, before the lunch bell rang, we were just discussing random things, it got quit and she just started laughing! I then started laughing, then the whole class did!

I have put some deep thought into laughter! It is contagious, releases stress and it makes others around you happy! We need to all take this girls look on life and "laugh"!

I AM BACK..... :)

Love taking 'landscaping' pictures

Couper ~ he is feeling much better and is growing!

Greg and BB talking when I snapped this picture!

First week of school has been very busy! A few days ago, the A.D. ask me if I could possibly do the Football and Basketball schedules and get the large ones ordered! So between getting my lesson plans completed, dealing with first day classes, new students and students returning all with excitement, AND returning to college the same week as school started, I took the weekend off. EXCEPT......Friday my puppy got real sick and I had to take him to the vet! We were up most of Friday night, but he was much better Saturday. Sunday, after Church and lunch, we went outside to relax and I took my camera........I have tons more pictures, but feel you may get bored! LOL

WARNING! GAS Grills do blow up!

I have been cooking on gas grills for years! I purchased a new one about a month and half ago, nothing different than anyone that I have had before. I lit the grill with the button, went inside to get the food ready for the grill! I noticed that the grill wasn't smoking (burning off the old stuff) so I went out to see if the wind had blown out the fire. I raised the lid and "BackDraft" happened! The fire 'blew' out and hit me, caught my hair on fire, burned my eye brows and I do not have any :( my nose was probably the worse that was burned. It is peeling now and some parts raw! I AM OK......! I had angels with me, I told my husband that I am definitely living right! I should have been burned severly!

I believe that for my quick reaction I had I squinted my eyes enough my ends of my eyelashes were burned off, but still save the ones closer to my eyes, my contacts were NOT burned to my eyes, THANK THE LORD...... I did lose my hair on my forehead, and I had to cut some of my hair in front that caught on fire (My new haircut.....:( ...............) BUT I am thankful that I was not injured anymore than this!

WARNING......this was NOT heat, it was FIRE..I do not know what caused it, other than when the air hit it, it fueled the fired and I guess all the gas that was trapped in the grill blew when I raised the lid! BE CAREFUL.........when grilling!

I have returned to school and tomorrow is my first days back to college to complete my counseling degree (Masters)....so I will be very busy and will not be able to post as much. Please forgive me for not posting on your blogs regularly. I will try and keep mine up weekly! :O

I did it...............!!!!!!!!

I got my hair cut! I am unable to get a picture at this time (coming soon) of my new hair cut! I love it. I was scared at first, I have had long hair (bra strap length and longer) for 8 or so years! Then to cut off 3-4 inches is a lot. I love it! It looks thicker, healthier and bouncy! I needed a change! She also put two colors of blonde on it to lighten it up, she did this so that it wouldn't be a white blond, it looks like a natural blond. She really is so good!

Here is my hair cut, definitely not me in the picture (I wish, LOL)Almost the hair color of the picture, I am telling you, she did a GREAT job on color and cut!

One bowl of dough started

Both bowls of dough rising ( yes I made a double batch)

Plus, I have tomatoes to can!
I return back to school tomorrow, so I will have to can tomatoes this weekend! My refrig is full of tomatoes, LOL

Should I or Should I NOT?

I like this cut but my hair is not this thick, so realistic I know it will not turn out exactly like this cut.

I really like this cut, I am leaning more towards this cut.
(I will still be able to put it up on bad hair days! LOL)
This was another cut I really like! May be to short to fast!

Get my hair cut? I am 'bored' with my long hair and I want to change. I am more afraid of regretting it after the fact~ Once it is cut, I will then have to let it grow out.......if I do not like it! OH, I just don't know what to do and my appointment is tomorrow! :{ What do you think?????

Met friends yesterday!

We had friends from Kansas call us wanting to meet us for the day, so my hubby and we took off to Tulsa yesterday for a day of shopping and eating! (there goes my diet again) I will have to restart my diet today! LOL

We had so much fun, I think an unplanned trip is usually the best! Even though we are planning to go to Kansas in October to stay with them (my husband hunting trip). They are planning to come in November to a barrel race! Yes, she is my 'barrel racing' buddy! We do live far apart but talk regularly!

She has been trying to get us to move to Kansas for about a year, I keep telling her Kansas has to many tornadoes for me! What a great day!

Rainy Days........

Looking from my front porch over at the mountains

Looking from the porch (other side)

I love rainy days when I do not have to go to work! I can sleep in and sit on the porch in my rocking chair, drink my coffee and reminiscing. These pictures were taken from the last rain we had where I was sitting on my front porch smelling the sweet smell of rain! Also, thanking God for the rain!

Yearbook YOURSELF.....

'CAUTION.....YOU ARE GOING TO LAUGH UNTILL YOU "P" YOUR PANTS!!!!!

Last year I recommended you going to http://www.yearbookyourself.com/ website and do this. All you have to do is upload a photo of yourself and they supply the rest, including the laughs! They have updated photo's from last year and also added a student life section where you are added to a group of friends. You can choose what year and "poof" your photo is in the year you selected....well, just view below. I will start out with the photo I uploaded to yearbook website.

Photo used for "yearbook yourself"

1992 year (dig the hair....LOL)

1954 year that is me on the right (I played in the band also, had so much time on my hands, LOL)

1972 year - that is me snapping (yes, I played football, the boys never knew I was a girl) LOL

1978 Queen Chris - Basketball Homecoming Queen (?) LOL

1980 Queen Chris AGAIN! I would say this maybe 'Football Homecoming'

1984 - Cheerleader, that is me in the front

1986 - Rock star, my family didn't know I was a 'star'....only in my dreams LOL

10 things about ME.....

Thanks to Kristin and Veronica's blogs for this posting! :)

1. I love teaching and the students. This is my passion, helping others. My grandmother was a huge helper, she would not let others help her, she was the caretaker for all of us.

2. I love riding horses and barrel races. No other event is more relaxing and fun than barrel races. These people share the same love as you and you have so much to talk about in the winning circle and also solving problems that you can't seem to solve with your horses. Networking!

3. Evidently I love going to college for more education! My husband says "he doesn't understand what part of college I 'don't' like owing! " LOL Because I am always going to receive more education. LOL

4. I love living on the farm. If I want to go outside in my PJ's, now one will see me! I like the solitude, I am able to reestablish who I am and my goals in life, plus reminiscing old times and Cherish those memories.

5. I love to cook! My grandmother taught me to cook. When I moved to south Arkansas, just a few miles from Louisiana, I learned two different types of cooking. My grandmothers southern cooking and then the south Arkansas/Louisiana *Cajun cooking! LOVE IT....I am always cooking and I am sorry mom's and dad's, I don't like to buy boxed foods. For example, I make my own homemade cakes, they taste so much better and homemade icing. I just love to do this!

6. I am always dieting! In the summer I eat lots of home grown tomatoes, cheese, okra, squash, anything that is coming out of my garden. Winter I eat lots of salads/ soups and chili!

7. In High School, I played basketball, ran track and played flag football. Basketball my was love and passion, I was All-district 2 years (Jr. and Sr. year), All County and named to the all State Basketball Team (Sr. Year), All District defensive player (Sr. year) and played first year of college.

8. I rodeo'd all through High School in the Arkansas High School Rodeo (team), went to National Finals High School Rodeo 3 years, first year in my sophomore year in Gallup, New Mexico; second year (Jr. Year) I went to Sulfur, Louisiana and my senior year I made the National finals in Helena, Montana. They take the top 4 in each event to the rodeo. Winners receive buckles and saddles. In my senior year, I won Break-away roping (calf roping) and 3rd in Goat Tying.

I have been very fortunate that my dad backed me in rodeo's. He would get me up every morning at 5:30, we would go to the arena and practice. I would rope 25 head of calves in the morning and afternoon. After my morning workout, I went to basketball practice which started at 7:30 in the morning. I ended the day with roping 25 more head of calves and the roping dummy 100 times. It paid off, I won the "State Champion Break away roper" my senior year!

9. I went to college on a rodeo scholarship! I met many more 'rodeo' friends and buddies who I still am in contact with on a regular basis.

10. I love JESUS and going to Church, watching Charles Stanley on Sunday mornings. His sermons 'refresh' my belief's and he teaches me what I need to know to become a Christian Woman! I love having a relationship with our Father in Heaven. He has blessed me so much! It took me some years to open my eyes to see his blessings, but that is part of learning the Bible. Some people think they have to have a BIG dream house, new cars/vehicles, all these fancy worldly goods. I have realized that it isn't all the worldly things, it is my husband, children, daily living, family, and what God wants me to do for Him! That is the blessing!

Love these new shoes!!!!!

These shoes remind me of our old slippers (LOL)
slippers or not, they are so cute!

But they look like slippers! LOL I love them! I have pictures that depending on what you wear (color) the shoes change to match! Yes, I went shopping yesterday! Recently I felt I needed new clothes for school, I know my students are getting sick of what I wear! If fact one student last year says, "Mrs. A, you love black because you wear it all the time", well that was a cue to me to go shopping and an excuse, LOL.

I have purchased jackets, pants, light sweaters, tanks, shirts and they are blues, pinks, whites and lime green! I did buy a pair of black Ralph Lauren dress pants yesterday! I love RL, but only purchase when they are 50% off. Like these shoes, they were on sale at the Buckle yesterday! I only buy sale items, LOL......

Wacky Wednesday Recipe

Texas Caviar or South of the Boarder Salad
2 cans whole kernel corn drained
2 cans Black beans drained
1 can original rotel
3/4 cups chopped green onions
1/3 cup olive oil
1/3 cup lemon juice
1 tbsp fresh cilantro
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cumin

Mix and chill 3-4 hours before serving....great with tortilla chips

As the weather changes, so do my recipes. I am a seasonal cook. I was reading my daughters blog http://www.houstonhouserules.blogspot.com about an easy recipe, which brought to mind about my 'texas caviar' recipe. I take this recipe to large gathering and is a hit. I have modified it and you can to! It is great with chips, by itself as a salad or with a dinner.

Reading my daughters blog gave me an idea (before school starts and I will not have time to post at all) lets do Wacky Wednesday Recipe consisting of short, fast, easy, GREAT tasting recipes.

Especially for working women!

C's Coupe De Ville puppy

Couper and his security puppy
After days of trying to figure out Coopers (sp?) registered name to send his papers in, I opened my August Barrel Horse World monthly magazine up and a horse named "Coupe De Ville" won the Great Lakes National barrel race. WOW lights went off! I love barrel racing, horses (as if you couldn't tell by my blog) and thought this would be a great name for Cooper. We had been throwing around how to spell Coopers name, "Kooper, Cooper" and just couldn't decide. We just knew we wanted to call him Cooper. After reading about the Coupe De Ville, I decided that Cooper is now "Couper" and registered name "C's Coupe De Ville".

We R back with our new puppy!

This is when we were driving home! Kooper was privileged to ride in the front seat. He seems to be happy. He has been home 2 days and is very attached to me. He doesn't like me to leave the room without him. I guess he knows what side his bread is buttered on! LOL
